Miss E: 21.5 Months

Miss E is 21.5 months old, impossibly fun and adorable, and learning new things so quickly it makes my head spin. She knows and says tons of words. Much to my delight, she just added her first verb to her vocabulary this morning - "sing" - a command to me to entertain her with whatever songs I can think of. Most of her words are nouns ("beebee" baby, "kow-kow" color/crayons) or interjectives ("ow," "uh-oh"). She is really increasing in comprehension which is so neat to watch. I do have to be careful and keep my sentences short or she gets lost. She is newly obsessed with babies, which I think is convenient, since one is about to move into our house full-time!

Miss E makes this made-up sign for sleeping when she wants to go down for a nap. Which is cool! She also makes this sign when she is bored, or cranky, or wants to be held, or something isn't going her way. Which is not as cool, but still cute.

Fun poufy dress from my mom. Miss E likes to fluff up the many layers. She also likes that there are flowers ("fow-fow") around the waist. She prefers to be wearing flowers at all times.

Thanks for the pretty dress, Grandma J!

Putting her shoes on by herself. On the wrong feet, natch.

(Note flowers on shirt AND pants.)

Miss E goes through weird food phases. In November and December, she practically lived on mandarin oranges. In January and February she was obsessed with cheese (Tillamook only, thank you very much). Now she wants nothing to do with oranges or cheese. She is currently grooving on apples, chicken nuggets (gag), dried cranberries, graham crackers, prunes (I am so not kidding), and Frosted Mini Wheats. I can pretty much only get her to eat vegetables if they are hidden in a casserole or soup.

Coloring the newspaper. And sometimes the table.

Here is Miss E wearing a dress Grandma N made for her before she was even born! Doesn't she look cute! She loooooves that it's covered in little flowers. Dh bought her this purse - a Hello Kitty purse in a shocking pick color, with pink leopard-print handle. She carries it all over the place. In this picture, she is also wearing my heels. She is shaping up to be a girly girl, and I am thrilled! This morning she refused pants. She wanted to wear a skirt. Yay!

Comparing the Bellies

Here are comparisons of my belly in each pregnancy. On the left are pictures from April 2005, when I was about 7.5 months pregnant with Miss E. On the right are pictures from last night, 7.5 months pregnant with Baby #2. I am a bit bigger this time. Less than six weeks left!

Mrs N Is On Her Own!

This morning Mr N and Miss E took off for eastern Oregon. Magical is getting married! And Jewell is getting blessed! Mr N and Miss E are the lucky kids who get to go have fun with the family. My back said, No you are not going on a 5-hour road trip, so I am here by myself and still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my family is gone for four days. Naturally I teared up when they left, especially since Miss E was adorably waving bye-bye to me as Mr N drove away. Don't worry about me, Mr N gave me gun instructions, namely, "Don't say anything to an intruder, just shoot them. There are 16 bullets in that gun. Use them all." I think that is beautiful proof of his love. Ha ha

Look for pictures of their weekend later!

Lovin the New Camera

Mr N bought a new camera recently and he's been very snap-happy. With good reason! His new camera is much nicer than the old one, and he has captured some fabulous everyday Miss E moments.

Miss E loves The Three Little Pigs very much. She found it at Goodwill and started reading it very animatedly to herself, despite never having heard the story before.

Miss E is very good about drinking enough water every day. She learned to use a sippy cup very early in her young life. "Wa-wa" is now the first thing she asks for when she gets up from her nap. Then she asks for a snack.

We are about to leave for church in this picture. Miss E did not much feel like posing.

Miss E posing in the glorious sunshine after church. Her headband has ears on the sides, in case you couldn't tell.

Of course I am biased, but I sure think this is the cutest girl around!!!

Peekaboo!

Fun Pictures of Miss E

Reading If You Take a Mouse to School. This and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and If You Give a Pig a Pancake are some of her current favorites.
We had a few sunny, relatively warm days and Miss E was thrilled to play outside in the backyard.

Valentine's Day

I made chocolate-covered strawberries for Mr N. Miss E almost managed to snag one.

Miss E made a charming handprint art thing. And yes, the project was VERY messy.

Mr N got me some wonderful roses... (Please ignore my horrible arranging job.)

And some delicious cheesecake!

She Wants to Be Just Like Mama!

Here is Miss E trying to be just like her mama. She put on my flipflops and managed to walk across the entryway in them. She was quite proud of herself. You can see from the binky and pajamas she is about to go to bed. The plastic bag? Well, Miss E likes to put things in bags and carry them around. She always has.

Update on Our Family

Baby E posing sweetly for Dh. He just got a fancy new camera and has been snapping pictures like crazy. This new camera takes much better pictures than our old one. And yes, Baby E has food on her face. She's 20 months old, we wouldn't want it any other way!

Baby E continues to be a very happy girl. She loves eating Cheerios for breakfast (she's quite good with a spoon), adds almost daily to her vocabulary (she knows at least 30-35 words), roughhousing with Daddy, reading stories to herself in toddler-speak, being read to by me or Dh, playing at her friends houses, going to Nursery, fruit snacks, coloring, her baby doll and teddy bears. But most of all she loves...

Bob the Builder! Whenever we open the entertainment center, she asks "Bob-o?" Whenever we turn on the computer, she asks "Bob-o?" She looooooves Bob the Builder so much. We have just one dvd; she and I have watched it about a million times. I think I have it entirely memorized. Ha ha She doesn't sit still for very long to watch it, so we seem to watch it in bits and pieces over each day. She also likes to visit the Bob website, because it plays the theme song.

Here is me 30 weeks pregnant. We are starting to get pretty excited to meet our little baby boy in about 10 weeks!

Right now we are all sick with a cold, so we don't feel so good in the N household! Hopefully we'll be able to start breathing again soon!

Christmas with the Ns!

Eating, always an important part of Christmas.

Looking cute.

Goodies in the stocking!

Peering in.

Baby E eyes the talking singing pony from Grandma and Grandpa.

She decides it's fun!

Daddy talking smack.

Baby E's cousin E has mad skills!

This is me at 23 weeks, enjoying an English muffin. Note the belly button!

Baby E eventually figured out the whole unwrapping presents thing.

Recent Pictures of Baby E

Sometimes Baby E lets me do her hair. Rarely. She LOVES to brush her teeth.

Baby E's temper tantrums are always short-lived. Thank goodness!

Getting the Christmas Tree

Aborted Christmas Card Shoot

Unfortunately we remember Friday evening to take the Christmas card photo fifteen minutes before Baby E's bedtime.

Mr. N preps the camera. Baby E already exhibits an uncooperative attitude.

Baby E cries because we will not allow her to continue playing the piano.

Dh announces, "This photo shoot is over! Baby E needs to go to bed! I don't care about the stupid Christmas card anyway!" Tucks Baby E into bed.

I go to Target on Saturday and buy some cheap Christmas cards. Sorry in advance - the Christmas cards are ugly and do not contain a photo of our family! I promise next year's will have a photo!

It's Going to Be a Boy!

That's right! We found out last week that Baby #2 is definitely a boy!
